Errors in the book

I will be grateful to all readers who might find errors of any kind and send me a note. Three significant errors are on p. 6 (a regrettable statistical mistake, with my apologies), and two typing errors in equations 2.62 (p. 83)  and 9.16 (p. 458): The errors are just in the equations, while their application in the main text is correct.
Tolerant readers can well ignore typos and minor inaccuracies. An updated list of errors will be maintained on this website. Errata
